The agenda was scheduled also in line with a questionnaire circulated and filled in by each organization before the online conference. UdA team, as coordinator, welcomed participants and facilitated all the session. The first part of the meeting has been devoted to administrative and communication issues. In particular, they focused on the importance of an incisive and efficient dissemination strategy in order to unify partner’s efforts and boost project’s visibility. The second part of the meeting has been devoted to Intellectual Output 1 and each Institution was required to briefly present and share proposals for corpus compilation. Significant steps forward has been taken for the development of language corpora (big databanks) to be loaded on the platform in order to reflect how language is actually used by academics and professionals in the field of Architecture and Construction (AC). The project aims at creating academic-professional language modules for French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish as a foreign language in the field of Architecture and Construction with a view to encourage student mobility and to improve the outcomes of mobility programs. SEAH is a Project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission which involves a Consortium of 6 Partners from 5 countries (Italy, France, Czech Republic, Belarus and Spain). SEAH-Project platforms’ greatest innovation is that at present there are no OER platforms solely dedicated to multilingual teaching tools in the field of Architecture and Construction tailored on the users needs (in structuring the platform, developing the content, ensuring relevance in terms of access, usability and impact).

SEAH project selected from INDIRE, the Italian Institute for Innovation and Educational Research, in the field of higher education projects – Strategic Parternships (KA203) – Erasmus+

2021-08-21

The Italian National Agency Erasmus INDIRE announced the results for both the call for proposals KA107 and KA203. As regards the KA203 call, the Ud’A won a project presented by Prof. Mariapia D'Angelo from the Department of Languages. The project title is "SEAH - Sharing European architectural heritage: innovative language teaching tools for academic and professional mobility in Architecture and Construction" will receive a European contribution of approximately 288,000 Euros. This is a great news for the Univerisity as the lack of proficiency in academic language for the study of the specialist sector often constitutes an obstacle to student mobility and may limit the acquisition of theoretical, technical and professional knowledge during the period of the Erasmus stay in the host institution. The project aims at creating academic-professional language modules for French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish as a foreign language in the field of AC with a view to encourage student mobility and to improve the outcomes of mobility programs.

Sharing European Architectural Heritage: innovative language teaching tools for academic and professional mobility in Architecture and Construction: Internet Web Solutions joined the online Kick-Off Meeting of SEAH

2020-11-16

On October 23th 2020, Internet Web Solutions joined the online Kick-Off Meeting of SEAH, a 24-month Project co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Commission, which brings together six Partners from different countries (Italy, Spain, Belarus, Czech Republic, France). The KOM, originally planned to be hosted in the headquarters of the University “Gabriele D'annunzio” Chieti-Pescara (Italy), was held in online mode due to COVID-19 restrictions. The project aims at creating academic-professional language modules for French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish as a foreign language in the field of Architecture and Construction (AC) with a view to encourage student mobility and to improve the outcomes of mobility programs. In fact, the consortium formed by five Higher Education institutions with extensive teaching and research experience in the fields of Applied Linguistics, Teaching Foreign Languages, Corpus Linguistics and Language Learning/Teaching Technology and one private enterprise, Internet Web Solutions (IWS), based in Málaga (Spain) will implement the project’s outputs into two years. In the first year (IO1), SEAH will create language corpora comprising texts representative of professional and academic communication in AC. In the second year (IO3) each partner university will develop online language teaching modules for AC; throughout the project, the IT partner IWS is in charge of Intellectual Output 2 and will develop, test and update the Multilingual Open Educational Resources (OER) platform which will be used to distribute resources created within the project. The project relies on the use of a variety of methods at each stage, including: semi-automatic creation and annotation of language corpora; automatic extraction of linguistic (lexical, morphological, syntactic and pragmatic) features to inform the learning materials; OER-Platform implementation and testing; survey-based methods for data collection and analysis. During the meeting, the consortium discussed about the overall project implementation schedule, defining timelines and respective duties in the following months. In particular, the consortium agreed on the choice of the domain name, the web design, the official logo and the main functionalities of the Multilingual OER platform for Architecture and Construction. IWS is in charge of Intellectual Output 2 and will develop, test and update the Multilingual OER platform which will represent a repository of project’s outputs, results, news and contacts.
